An idea that changed my learning style.
Summarising our Co-Founder's 9 Month Learning into Nocode in less than 10 points.
When learning a new subject, you learn by standing on the shoulders of the giants and leverage the work of others to learn more about it.
How would I do that?
I would spend my nights learning about nocode apps through tutorials, blogs and more. This is my partial list π β
Find a problem you want to solve and dive into it. Attend courses, watch tutorials about it, speak to experts. I have bugged founders of every no code app I wanted to learn about and asked them how to get it done. Here's one sample convo I had with @ajlkn of Carrd β
A very important aspect is to be obsessed about learning and solving the problem at hand. I have spent time thinking about the problem and spent days sleepwalking the problem, literally π .
Reach out to people and ask them how did they do something! Never underestimate the power of asking. I have asked @1foehn (btw, @1foehn is amazing with anything Carrd!) on how to implement a widget and we ended up talking about other ways, we solved the widget problem
(See the notification widget I added).Grab every opportunity you can get! I was lucky to get 2 hours of time with @PhilipLakin. I understood how to work with @integromat and @zapier. When I was stuck, Philip clarified my doubts in Glide and I understood that I was using @glideapps for solving the wrong problem.
Speaking of opportunities, familiarise yourself with the community of nocode and if you can grab an opportunity to talk to @thisiskp_ & @cuhpajo in the @nocodecamp you should! Those sessions helped me get started on many aspects of nocode with great confidence.
Reflecting back, this approach was long winded (~ 9 mo) but learning by doing helped me to have a conversation with @karthi2209 on how to actually approach learning a new field. With Karthi's approach I actually reduced my learning time and was able to learn more effectively.
Effective Learning in my experience is to approach something from the big picture, understanding the boundaries of the subject and knowing where to go and what do you want to finally accomplish, comes last.
That's when we at ( @teamxperian ) started thinking about Jumpstart programs. Jumpstart programs launch you into a new field with just enough information to navigate a new field, effectively and confidently.
If you want to learn effectively and reduce the time you spend learning about Nocode as beginner, check out β http://nocolo.co and the upcoming jumpstart session!
